TARGET: LIB SCI Courses for Paraprofessionals

I'm interested in knowing if there are either online library courses OR
college courses on campus (in Texas only) for library staff /
para-professionals? This will be the "basic level" coursework for someone
without a teaching certification.

I will be presenting this information in the next few days to my
administration as a partial solution to some problems in my library.
(library assistant)  Any information regarding courses either online or near
the Dallas / Fort Worth area would be most appreciated.  I realize that both
Texas Women's University and the University of North Texas offer the MLIS
program, but I'm looking at something "just short of school
certification"---(Any college or university online would be great....any
para-professional coursework that doesn't lead to a degree necessarily,
would be fine too.)

(I'm familiar with a program that is offered (in another state) for
paraprofessionals working in the public library system.  This program offers
basic classes for 2-3 days over a period of several months throughout the
year on a variety of topics (very similar to the MLIS program curriculum
topics but just basics for the paraprofessional).  Those individuals working
in the public library would be required to obtain "staff development points"
in library classwork in order to retain their positions each year.  I was
hoping there might be a program like this in Texas.)
