Hi Everyone!
I recently asked for help in keeping track of both PA standards and
Information and Literacy Standard(from Information Power). I received
several places to go for the standards but I have not yet figured a way
to actually keep track of the ones I've taught, to which classes and
when. I'll work on that and share later. Here is a list of responses I
received, some of which I'm sure could be applied to any state, not just
PA! Thanks to all who shared ideas:

1. PDE offers a workshop called the Toolkit for School Library Media
Specialists which offers a cross section of pn standards and information
power applications. You will find it listed at the PDE site under school
libraries and workshops....you may find a presenter in your area who
could teach this one day program, or one who may travel to your site,
with reimbursement travel, etc.

2. Have you gone to the PA Dept of Education website?
They have all the standards there.
www.pde.edu I think

3. All teachers in my districts had to include standards in lesson plans
for past 2 yrs. - I used Information Literacy standards , PA
standards -language arts, 9 reading , writing, listening), science and
technology(computers) and guidance( careers) in most cases

4. Do you have a copy of Toolkit from PDE?

5. I use a matrix I learned about at the Big6 national conference three
years ago. The big6 framework relates to the 9 Info lit. standards of
ALA. In the comments area of the chart, I note the Virginia "Standard of
Learning" which was taught. I am not required to do this, but I find it
helpful to track my lessons across grade levels. (elem) If you send me
your mailing address, I can get you a copy of the form. You might find it
on the Big6 web page: www.big6.com by using the searching box.

What I found so far is that "Toolkit" booklet has the PA and Information
Power Standards cross referenced in a table. That will probably be
helpful. I'm hoping to find some type of matrix for easy record keeping
on the Big6 website.

Thanks again to all who shared!
