books by Don Paterson--series--SPITFIRE, Tales of RAF, etc..

These are very old but I still love them...The Tunnel and The Wooden
Horse, both by Eric Williams. They are fictionalized adventures of
Eric's time in several German POW camps. He is British. I also still
love Reach for the Sky, the story of Douglas Bader the legless hero of
the Battle of Britain.
I was asked to post a hit so here are the great suggestions I have received!
Thanks so much!

How about the Eyewitness book on Arms and Armor? There's also one on each
of the
World Wars as well as the Civil War. Lots of pictures and appealing to my
younger
kids.

My 3rd-4th graders love the Eyewitness books by DK that are War/weapon
related - WWI, WW2, Civil War, American Revolution, etc.

You may want to try On The Front Lines Series or the War Planes Series by
Capstone
Press...some titles in include "The Us Army Rangers at War" by Michael and
Gladys
Green or "Long Range Bombers The B-1B Lancers" and Tactical Fighters The
F-15 Eagles
by Bill Sweetman.
