I had a first grade teacher ask me today for suggestions for a picture book
from which she could create a themed unit this year. For example, she has
already done The Polar Express and the kids wore p.j.'s, drank hot cocoa, etc. and
she has done Jan Brett's Gingerbread Baby after which they made gingerbread.
All I could think of was Too Many Tamales by Soto, and have them make
tamales! Can anyone jog my memory here or offer suggestions for something new?
I also was thinking of one of Patricia Polacco's books, Uncle Vova's Tree, or
The Trees of the Dancing Goats.
Does anyone have suggestions? Thanks.
