Very nice. Colors work well and links are obvious. If your primary =
audience
is the kids, you might want to make the kid links a part of your =
homepage
rather than make them click one more time. Let the parents and teachers
click off to their own sections. =20

I like the book of the month idea, maybe that could be there also (it =
would
make sure you update regularly!) =20

Maybe move the circ info to a separate policy page (with how to put =
holds,
sign up as an aide, etc) and move the links box so they show right from =
the
get-go.

Good resources on the teachers and parents pages as well as the student
research tools page.

I tend to not like new windows popping up. Seems easier to 'go-back' =
than to
close new ones if I don't want to be there. I'd do some thinking about =
the
link to the toy store, it doesn't add to the page.

I'm pretty graphically challenged, but I think pages might look even =
more
together if the same stye design was used for the graphic header. Like =
same
shape and size, but maybe different colors for parent, teacher student
section head graphic. It is hard to pick one style and use consistently.
Having the same fonts, backgrounds, and section icons works really well =
to
establish some identity.

One thing I especially like is that each page is small, with carefully
selected resources AND reason for inclusion. =20
Good Job!

As always the responses from this group gave me many possibilities and a =
lot
to think about. Thank you so much. I am sorry that it has been a =
couple of
weeks, but I got back from my internship just in time for my two book =
fairs
to arrive and to complete my two budgets. I have posted my website just
today. It is nowhere near finished, but I will be sharing it with my
classmates soon and so needed to upload it. The temporary URL is:

http://fc.hermon.net/~kaline_goodrich/HMSLibrary/

although I am sure that will change once I have it
approved by my district. It is definitely an
amateurish effort right now and I would welcome any suggestions. I have
only just started filling it the teacher and parent pages, so don't =
expect a
lot from them. I am aware that two of the graphics on the home page are =
not
working. The responses everyone sent are below, minus names. Thanks =
again to
everyone who helped. Kaline Goodrich, almost an offical LMS Hermon Elem =

I've just published my LMS website, really just
testing, and realize I need to change a few graphics,
etc and add home page picture--HOWEVER, you might want
to check it out, I have a parent page, may be what you
are looking for, maybe not. Let me know your
thoughts, I have not announced it in the school
community as yet, need to clean a few things up and
finish adding ar quizzes (5700--quite a chore). My
sister has previewed it, and not discounting her, but
she is a loving supportive sister and so proud her
little sissy even created a web site, not sure she can
be critical other than the obvious loopy pictures.
Anyway would like your input-- - you may visit at

How about links to the NCLB site, they have free
materials for parents.
.......................

You might want to include links to sites that include recommended =
reading by
grade level. I am often asked by parents what books their child should =
be
reading. I also included a link to book adventure.com - that's a free =
web
site that allows kids to take tests over thousands of books. Sort of =
like
Accelerated Reader or Reading Counts.

Here's what I did - but it hasn't been updated or
checked in almost 3

These are a couple I found a while back that might be
useful. Certainly not exhaustive.

Also, what about websites for "challenges" kids have
that can give the parent more information, like http://www.interdys.org/
International dyslexia society. Special ed sites

Just some ideas.

The first place to start is to identify what your
target parent audience would need. It could be quite
different from what my parent body would want. Having established that, =
it
is easier to search for and select sites that will be relevant.

I might also add a section explaining about overdue

I am not a parent either, or understand the complexity
of this suggestion, but here goes

I was talking to a parent last week and she said that
on her daughter's web site she can go look at the
girl's grades, [she noticed that the daughter had a 94
on homework (and was kind of copying it from friends)
and a 78 on the test (not doing homework comes back to
bite you on the heel)] I think probably The best might
be a Teacher's Page for all the teachers that parents
go to.

a spot for grades (but that involves a password)
Teacher's name and e-mail for classes a home work
page, listing what is due this week or tomorrow coming
events for that class (test on Thursday, field trip on
Friday)

just some thoughts

A lot of public libraries have links for parents. You
could try going to Google and typing in something
like: library links for parents and see what you
get. I came up with dozens of hits that looked
promising.
