TARGET: PDAs

I would love to hear feedback from t-ls who have experience using Palm
Pilots or other PDAs, in particular to deliver PowerPoints and other
Info. Lit. lessons to classes using an LCD projector. Are they as
useful as the hype? What additional software, if any, do you need to
buy? Would I be better off investing in a laptop, or do the
appointment-tracking features make a PDA a "good thing".

If the way to go is PDA, do you have brand recommendations? I am a Mac
user at home, but an enforced PC user at work. Can anything bridge the
gap?
