Friends - Here is my original post -- followed by your responses. Thanks a million! A first grade teacher in my school is looking for a reading list for her class. I checked the archives for reading lists by grade and found no lists. Does anyone know where to look? Check hedgehogbooks.com It is a great website with reading lists by grade as one of its features. You might try Nancy Keane at www.nancykeane.com. She has many reading lists. Or you could go to Texas Library Association at www.txla.org and take a look at the Reading Lists, specifically the 2 X 2 list for ages 2 years old through 2nd grade. You can google "recommended books" or "summer book list" and "first grade" (or whatever grade needed)and get many good lists from school and public libraries. this is the web site for the Indiana reading list for the 1st grade hope it helps http://www.doe.state.in.us/standards/pdf_2000_english/1_k-2_readlist-0123.pdf A list of books by grade level http://www.carolhurst.com/titles/prek.html A list of books by subject http://www.carolhurst.com/subjects/subjects.html A searchable database of over 100 thematic and graded booklists http://nancykeane.com/rl/ 19 subjects on preschool concepts http://exlibris.monroe.lib.in.us/childrens/preschoolbib.html 39 subjects on preschool concepts http://www.co.fairfax.va.us/library/reading/preschl/jps.htm Try: www.lapl.org They have various book lists for many ages and topics. It had lists for each grade (actually for each semester in 1st grade) that were on grade level. You could actually use some of the old editions for titles as many of them are the type that remain in print.
