Barbara Bush had planned a poetry symposium for February 12, but when over half the poets she invited to contribute works wrote anti-war poems she cancled the event. Read the story on the front page of the January 31, Daily Variety. Apparently she is only willing to provide a forum for poets who conform to the shrubs brand of dead or alive politics. So much for artistic freedom. I wonder if anyone wrote a poem about her husband avoiding Nam and going AWOL while in the reserves? Is she is still a member of any teacher or librarian organizations, I hope she is censured. David N.
