I recently graduated from a Department of Library and Information Science. I am a firm believer in intellectual freedom. As a media specialist I will be maintaining the media center’s collection. I will be going for an interview in a rural Midwestern (U.S.) town pretty soon. Recently I found out that the community members are very conservative. What if they ask me during the interview process, “Some community members want Harry Potter to be removed from the shelf. Would you be willing to fight the censorship or compromise with your intellectual freedom believes?” I am very apprehensive about this interview. How should I prepare myself for this kind of question. I would appreciate any comment. Thanks in advance.
