Dear LM_netters,

On Friday, Jan. 24, I was informed that my contract would be terminated
for the coming school year. The state of education in Iowa is bleak.
As many of you know, media specialists are no longer mandated, so we
are some of the first to be =93pink slipped.=94
=20
I have enjoyed 16 rewarding years in this school district, with a new
media center and my home has been in this community for 23 years. At
this time I am not sure what I will do. The shock of this is starting
to sink in. Most of my colleagues have been supportive, but others are
treating me like I have the plague.

My first priority is to get through the rest of year. I am updating my
resume, but the prospects of another media position does not look good,
so I may be looking for other type of employment. As a single parent
with only one son remaining in college, I am prepared to move closer to
my parents, who live in SE South Dakota.

I would like to thank all of you for the wonderful ideas and advice,etc.
you have given me over the years. I wish the very best to all of you.
