Target:HS PE writing project

Dear friends,

I am in desperate need of ideas for research/writing projects for high school PE 
classes.

We currently have a "writing across the curriculum" directive and the PE teachers 
are taking their responsibility seriously.  However, first semester their 
assignment required students to "research a sport and write two typed pages about 
it."  Obviously many of the students copied and pasted from the Internet.

The PE teachers would like to avoid that problem this time and I'd like to help 
them come up with a research assignment that would be more valid.

I will be glad to post a hit with any responses I receive.  Thanks in advance!
