Thanks to all of you who sent in names and URLs of vendors for
inexpensive paperback books. The vendors mentioned over and over were:
I've had luck with http://www.bookcloseouts.com - although it is hit or
miss (since it is an overstock company) - but their website does list
how many copies they have in stock, and most of the books are at least
50 percent off retail.
the Scholastic Warehouse Sales - where everything
was (usually) 50 percent off (or more!) Usually held in December -
they also had an inventory blowout sale in January (items were $1 or
$3) - they usually have another sale in May or June.

Ingram gives a nice discount - I believe it is over 40% for multiple
copies.

paperbacks.
I got good discounts from Brodart this year--larger discounts on
paperbacks
Baker and Taylor offers state contract discounts.
In NJ, they offer 40% off 5 or more of the same title (several people
mentioned Baker and Taylor).
