Help! Is this a perennial question? The superintendent of our diocese would like to know: 1. May pom pom squads download music from the Internet to play at public performances? (my answer is NO) 2. May pom pom squads "cut and paste" bits from several songs to make up a routine? (I say no) 3. If the sheet music is legally obtained, may copyrighted music be performed at a public concert (ie, choir or band) if admission is not charged? (seems to me "yes", but I never know....) If Carole Simpson is reading this, have you ever considered writing a publication that deals with answers to common copyright questions like this? Written in understandable language?
