We are trying to update our suggested summer reading lists and I have been looking
at lots and lots of lists with the English department. HOWEVER, our summer reading
has been ONE title for incoming grade 9 honors, ONE for incoming grade 9 college
prep, and ONE for incoming grade 9 basic, and so on for grades 10 and 11. We're
set with 12th grade (Animal Farm, 1984, Things Fall Apart, plus numerous AP) but we
need single titles for the other grades (can't be titles we read in class, should
be interesting enough to read independently, and should be available in paperback).
(This leaves out typical things like Catcher, To Kill a Mockingbird, Yellow Raft,
Of Mice and Men, etc.) (We used to read After the First Death in 9th but now the
hijacking thing is kind of creepy.)
If you have a few new and exciting suggestions, please email me off the list.
