Hello All -
I am surveying opinion -- We are a k-12 Independent School with two
library locations - 1 (LS) k-5, the other 6-12. LS is a teaching Library,
while 6-12 is more independent. Any Library skills are currently taught in
LS only. We currently have two collections for each library that are
searched separately. In the past, a great deal of effort has been invested
in keeping both Libraries congruent. We use Dewey and Sears and have tried
to keep both collections consistent and in keeping with each other.
At this juncture - the LS person - would like to eliminate most, if
not all, decimal places and typically would like books classified in
different locations than the US or LC would place them in. We are
discussing the issue of whether the two collections need to be in sync or if
it is acceptable for them to diverge and not be cross referenced.
        Opinions???
TIA
