You are the greatest people in the world. And now I have
another question. We are on the 4 X 4 block, and classes are
90 minutes long for 18 weeks. Our history teachers rarely use
the library; one does for a unit on Presidents , but she has
had to cut out her multicultural unit because of time. And I
have a zillion books on the subject. We haven't changed our
history courses in almost a millennium:-); we have 18 weeks of
world history; 18 weeks of American history; 18 weeks of
American government and 18 weeks of geography(this class is
for "basic" students--go figure). This is a 9-12 high school
with 850 students and consolidation looms in Arkansas so we
may be growing soon. I want to know what kinds of history
courses other schools have. It is my opinion that we need to
have 9 weeks courses and concentrate on periods and themes in
history. It is my hope to compile something from this great
listserv that shows what we should be doing to give our
students a better education in history. They are so turned off
by what we are doing now that we have to put the "i" back into
history...(interesting)! Thanks for any help you can give. If
