Don't sell the teacher short! I find that the teachers can talk until they are blue in the face and at least one student will come to the library and, when asked what their assignment is, say "I don't know." It took a bit of time and persuasion to convince my classroom teachers that this happens a lot, and that they need to give me a copy of their rubrics if they're going to send students down to do research. On the other hand, our 3d grade has an assignment to read a biography of a famous person in history. I can't tell you how many students have come in here and told me "I need a book on a dead guy"!! Cheers!
