I look at it this way- We will recoup the cost of our membership in ALA over the
course of the year in free books. Plus, the discounts on other items, like books
and posters, will also offset the membership fees within a short time. The sliding
scale they use could be improved, but it's still a great deal for my Org to have
that type of membership.

I agree. The price of a membership is more than my library can afford. We are a
private school and there simply isn't money for anything extra. I pay for all
meetings I attend out of my own pocket and that is about all I can manage in a
