I am currently chairing the Virtual Conference being held in conjunction
with the IASL Annual conference which opened this morning in Durban, South
Africa. The focus for the VC is a paper by Dr Ross Todd which discusses the
hows and whys of evidence-based advocacy, and as part of my role I am asking
participants to examine their beliefs about their role in their own school
and compare them with the official statements from organisations such as
IASL and IFLA.
What I would like to include are references to any national statements, such
as that of the Australian School Library Association, particularly that of
AASL. But even though I have searched all over http://www.ala.org/aasl and
read more than I ever needed to know about a lot of things, I cannot find a
definitive role statement.
Can someone please point me in the right direction? Or if you are not
US-based but know of a link to your education authority's or library
association's statement, could you please forward it to me?
After I have included them in the email to the conference, I will link to
them from my school library website.
