Dear Floyd
That is good news and thank you for the follow-up. I have read the article
but, typically, there is no mention of the strategies that the librarians
used beyond "librarians wrote and telephoned board members, pleading with
them to change their decision"

Can you, or any of the librarians involved, tell us about what they did to
make the superintendent change his mind. Success stories are rare and it
would be good to have a few more successful strategies up our sleeves, or
some confirmation of some older ones.

Subject: Kansas City Librarians Reinstated

The Kansas City library media specialists mounted a vigorous campaign to
save their jobs and were successful last night. All 24 positions were
saved. They involved a lot of people in their successful campaign and are
to be commended for the professional and vociferous defense of this attack
on the profession. We all know that this is a year-by-year thing as long as
the financial crisis in Missouri continues, but we ought to celebrate our
victories as we can.
