The article was rolling along so well with great quotes like "...she's =20=

an unabashed booster of her profession: "The role of a librarian is to =20=

make sense of the world of information. If that's not a qualification =20=

for superhero-dom, what is?"

Yep, that's us!

Then came "...quintessential librarian-... iron fist inside a velvet =20
glove. And she doesn't take herself too seriously." Hmmmmm. now that =20=

one I guess is OK, but " iron fist in a velvet glove defines =20
'quintessential librarian" "??? Guess I'd prefer other definitions.

But then came the choice between the bun popping off (yep, my bun came =20=

off years ago) or the removable book with the action-oriented shussing =20=

finger. But sure wish Ms. Pearl had been a little more realistic when =20=

she said " Pearl predicts that the shushing motion =97 triggered by a =20=

button on the doll's back =97 will determine "which librarians have a =20=

sense of humor." She likes to believe that today's librarians are =20
secure enough in their work that they won't take offense at the old =20
clich=E9. "

My question-- then why perpetuate the old cliche?? That thought =20
referred me back to the earlier quote of ""...she's an unabashed =20
booster of her profession..." Hmmmm. Maybe an opportunity lost.
