I want to add something to Shonda's helpful comments. I
worked in a school with Special Ed classes this year. The children were
mainstreamed for Specials. So I have some experience with this
situation.

Every district should have a school psychologist and an
LDTC (learning disability teacher consultant). There may also be a school social
worker. Their jobs are to work with the teachers, the students and the parents.
Ask for their help and guidance. At IEP meetings, teachers may be present. Ask
to be advised of these meetings and attend them. In my district. when an IEP is
posted all teachers who work with the child are advised of it's location and
encouraged to read it.

These Special Ed professionals as well as the classroom
teachers should be able to provide some guidance on how to deal with these
children.
