As the new school year is drawing near, I have a question for you out there.
What kind of system do you use for discipline? I am at an inner city
elementary school where I work with each class 45 minutes a week. I don't
have an assistant.

My "rules" are to
listen to instructions
talk when called on
walk slowly
help each other
use quiet voices
take good care of the books
wait your turn

My "consequences" were:
time out
letter home
phone call home
referral to the principal
silent lunch (with teachers' agreement)
have disciplinarian talk to the child.

But - what do you do when none of those work and the child is still being
disruptive? I mean, I have children in time out who are still disruptive.
The other actions are future oriented - I am not going to stop the class to
call home or refer the child to the principal. Any way to get instant
results?

Thank you.
