Sony Mavica CD question

SONY Mavica CD gurus, please help.

I am trying out a SONY Mavica CD250.  It works just fine.  I like the
increased storage capability that using CD discs gives me.

But here's the problem.  My main computer is an iMac with a front loading CD
Drive and running OS 9.2.2 and 10.2.  I tried the CD in its adapter using
9.2.2 and got a message that the disc was unreadable and did I want to eject
or initialize.  I switched to system 10.2 and the disk drive did not even
work.

So, what do I do?  Is this a disc problem, a computer problem or a system
problem?  Or do I just return the camera and stick with the FD Mavica that
uses floppy discs?  Switching to a PC is not an option.
