For anyone looking for a new & bad Web page to help develop Web
evaluation skills, I offer

http://www.umbachconsulting.com/FeralFlamingo.pdf
It is, I hope, a worthy companion to my well known Velcro hoax, although
this one is under pen name Herbert T. Brewer. This new piece is my take on the
feral flamingos of Sacramento's Capitol Park At nine pages, mostly illustrations,
it is quick
reading. However, the mixture of; fact and genuine source citations with the
imaginary feral flamingos may provide an amusing challenge for some students. All
of the photos, by the way, are genuine -- except for the first one in the document,
showing the
flamingos in a shallow pool next to a walkway; (The flamingos are
real, too, and I also photographed them -- just not in that particular
location, Caution: it is a pretty big file, upwards of a megabyte; I have
included, for your convenience, a copyright notice at the end of the
document that makes it easy for teachers to use the page for educational
purposes; (I give explicit permission for that sort of use.
