I've always been a warrior for intellectual freedom--have a SIRS
Intellectual Freedom Award to prove it!--but I may have met my match in the
Chinese government! When I received the following message from Follett
about a month ago, I decided it was the better part of valor to have the
offending titles pulled from the shipment and returned. Unfortunately, I'm
still waiting for the remainder of the shipment--about $35,000 worth of
processed books!

"Custom agents would not approve 8 titles that were listed on your invoice,
strictly based off the title of the book. Is there any assistance you or
your School could provide in obtaining the OK to proceed and accept the
books? If you cannot, we will just issue credit for the 8 titles and the
shipper will have them returned.
Tibet Disputed Land
1960's Cultural Revolution
China Dream the Quest For The
China in Pictures
Chinese Revolution
Chinese Storytellers Book
Myths of China and Japan
Mao a Reinterpretation"

Actually, this is the first time in three years that I have had a problem
like this, and I suspect that the added political pressures of the SARS
situation here in China have resulted in a tightening up throughout the
bureaucracy.

Ah, sometimes life gets a little too interesting!
