Nor is it a very good idea to try, in many cases. I know plenty of principals who think we have no business trying to tell them "their business." I have gotten in trouble for simply pointing out that showing a video for reward is against copyright: "You should know there are different rules for schools because we don't charge for the kids to see them." I wonder why there is not some higher-up-the-library-associations-ladder that is pounding at the doors of principal-training degree programs. I don't think they learn anything about us, what we do, or what a library is even USED for.
