Sorry this is coming so long after others have discussed it. I'm officially "on vacation" although I still come in to take care of plants, mail, etc. I just finished reading all of the posts about administrators and school libraries, and found them quite interesting. I just completed all the course work for certification as an elementary school librarian, so I'll be actively searching for such a position this next year. My coursework included two classes on curriculum, one on special programs, and several on various aspects of management. NOT ONCE was the library mentioned unless I brought it up. Many of the people in the various classes were curious about the role of the library in the school. Someone mentioned joining an administrator's list and post comments there. That may work. Another idea might be to submit articles to the various periodicals for administrators. I may try that route this summer. If you have suggestions for me please email me at home:kb0zke@arrl.net as I won't be in at school more than one or two days per week.
