Jackson, Shirley._We have always lived in the castle._Penguin, 1984 [0-14-007107-5] Merricat and her sister, Constance live in the family estate with Uncle Julian. The rest of the family died when some arsenic was put in the family sugar bowl. Now Constance has been acquitted of the crime but the entire town thinks they are all monsters, the town weirdos so the small family lives isolated in the big house. One day Uncle Charles shows up until the house catches on fire and the community gets to once again vent its anger against the family. This 214 page book deals with a family living within the hatefulness of a community. [I read this book because a 7th grade teacher in our school asked me to get it for the library.] *************** Frederick Muller Halsted Middle School Library 59 Halsted Street Newton, NJ 07860 voice (973) 383-7440 ext 228 FAX (973) 383-7432 My book reviews are compiled at: http://www.halsted.org/br.htm My personal web site is: http://users.tellurian.net/fmuller =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=- All LM_NET postings are protected by copyright law.
