Dear LM_Netters:
For a library foundations class I need information on what school
libraries are doing to comply (or not) with the Children's Internet
Protection Act (CIPA). I'm here in a private K-8 school
library and we do not receive IMLS funds, but we do use Internet an
filter. =20
If you are currently balancing need for funds with need to know, or are
discussing CIPA in any way, please contact me at my email address below.
Gripes are fine! If
I receive some responses, I'll post a HIT.
It would be helpful to know if/how CIPA has changed your library
program and:
 1) how you, the administration you work for, and/or the people you work
with feel about CIPA, and
2) to know if your school library uses Internet filters or not, or are
considering them,
3) who determines what will be filtered, and
4) if you use Internet filters, do you find it necessary to turn them
frequently to meet information needs?
Anything else on the subject is welcome.
Thanks in advance to the worthy souls who reply,
Aileen Kay, Library Director
