LM Netters- I am privileged to be able to speak to our child care classes each year on the importance of reading aloud to children, both in one-on-one and in storytime settings. I usually go over the different types of picture books, what is appropriate for each grade level, along with some fingerplays and flannel board songs. I also demonstrate how to read aloud, giving tips on how to do it well. I have lots of examples of picture books and many puppets, and I include a short video on the importance of reading aloud. I am pleased with the presentation, but I've been doing it for 5 years now, and I want to add/change some things. Is there anyone out there who does a similar lesson and can share some of their ideas? I would appreciate any input! TIA! Tish Carpinelli, Media Specialist Lower Cape May Regional H.S.
