Hi Folks--

What Kim is looking for is Mimismotifs.com, a wonderful site and business run
by former teacher, Mimi Boyd, out of Visalia, CA. I met her at a conference
out there several years ago and have been using her adorable props and
puppets ever since. This year she put together a whole batch of fabulous
props to go with Coleen Salley and Janet Stevens's wonderful folktale
retelling, Epossumondas, and I've been using them as my Grand Finale for my
workshops this year. There's a possum puppet, complete with diaper, a hat,
and a whole host of perfect felt props and finger puppets. The kids (and the
grownups) go wild when they see it. She'll be putting the photos of it on her
website soon, so e-mail her if you're interested.

She's also made a stupendous story apron with 7 huge pockets in primary
colors--you can stuff the whole kitchen sink into this apron, and I do!
Another one I love is the Bark, George puppet, with all the animals George
swallows. Not to mention the 3-sided Cinderella and other fairy tale dolls.
Her props are incredibly reasonable and well designed and constructed. Take a
look at the website--lots of color photos to drool over. She also carries
Folkmanus puppets, which is very convenient. I got a lovable rat from her
this year to go with That Pesky Rat by Lauren Child. She even made me a
fabric banana peel, which I've been using with I Stink (by Kate & Jim
McMullan), and which everyone thinks is real. She says it's available, but I
don't know if it's on the website, so ask her. (e-mail:
mimismotifs@prodigy.net / toll-free phone: 877-FORMIMI which is, for you
number-minded people 877-367-6464)

Mimi is always looking for new story hour books and ways to make them come to
life. I don't sew as a rule, so I'm thrilled she's out there, making my life
easier and lots more fun. Have a ball!
