Over the snowy weekend my school had a very large pipe burst in the
attic of the building. The water cascaded down 3 floors and ended up in
our Media Center. I guess that I was lucky in that I only lost about 300
books and some older computers but the carpet was completely saturated.
Evidently it has not dried yet. Much of the plasterboard in the room is
still wet also. Now we have to have new carpeting which sounds great but
all of the shelves have to be moved even the ones that are bolted onto
the wall have to be pulled out. Plus my 2 little offices which are just
crammed with all kinds of stuff have to be moved, too. Has this happened
to anyone else? I just am having nightmares thinking about taking out
and storing all of those books. I am the only staff person and I can't
picture how I can possible do this. If anyone has gone through this and
can make me feel better, please help. I am 2 years away from retirement
- maybe I should think about going a little early. I wouldn't like to do
this but this all is a little overwhelming.
