Hello, John Gardiner visited my school last year. I couldn't have been more pleased. He talked with the kids about how to write a story--giving a 3 part formula: wish, struggle, surprise. He was funny, warm, and very uplifting because of his own journey. As you may know, he was not a reader as a kid. I'm in a school where almost all the kids are struggling readers. It was good for the kids AND the teachers to hear what he had to say. I'd invite him again in a minute. He was terrific!
