I just want to share a wonderful day with you... and let you know about a=

author who visits schools in case you haven't heard about her. Today we h=
ad=0D
FL author, Marianne Berkes visit our school. She has three books...=0D
and ALL are wonderful! We had prepared the students well ( after looking =
at
LM_NET=0D

by reading her books.. and sharing centers related to the books, =0D
making frog bulletin boards (old AOL promo CDs make GREAT frog eyes!!!) =
=0D
and she was as pleased with us as we were with her! Our art and music=0D
teachers helped by doing activities related to her books the past two wee=
ks.
=0D
Mrs. Berkes books relate to birds, shells, frogs, pond life... and music.=
=0D
My favorite is "Marsh Music" since I like frogs... and play music as an =0D
other" life. The illustrator of her books, Mr. Robert Norieka has done a=0D
super job coordinating with..and supplementing the text! =0D
Mrs. Berkes presented to 1st - 4th grade classes... giving an age=0D
appropriate presentation for each level. She made it fun!!! She gave them=
a=0D
encouraging, yet realistic view of being an author. =0D

I had a luncheon for Mrs. Berkes and invited two representatives from eac=
h=0D
5th grade class. She agreed ahead of time to this.. and was great with th=
e=0D
kids! I hated not being able to include 5th grades in the group=0D
presentations... but we are a large school and almost filled the media=0D
center to top capacity each session as it was! Another plus.... she was=0D
