Hi All, After searching high and low, I need your help. Our elementary teachers have recently introduced a wonderful literacy program (Reading Workshop) which uses novels to teach students the elements of literature. Needless to say, we were thrilled, as the reading has spilled over into the library. However, to our chagrin, we have recently discovered that, in order to make some of the novels acceptable to our more conservative parents, the teachers are whiting out "objectionable" words and phrases!!! I know that altering the integrity of a literary work must be addressed in Title 17, but all I can find is the alteration of visual works. Can anyone give me some ammunition to present with my case when we go to the principal? Thanks, Linda E. Kern Asst.
