TARGET: Starting a Media Center in an Alternative School

Has anyone been involved in starting a Media Center in an alternative school?
 I have been asked to assist in the beginning and the setup of a Media Center
in an alternative school that would serve a whole school system.  They have
very little money to buy materials.  They will be serving about 150 students
that are in the seventh through twelfth grade.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks in advance!
