Another great YA author gone....

Paul Zindel was another favorite of mine. I read all of his books (starting
while I was in high school and then later when I began my library degree).
His biography is amazing:

When I hear about the deaths of some of the outstanding pioneers of YA
literature, I realize just how fortunate I have been to have lived in an age
when the pioneering efforts of those amazing (1970's) authors helped to
openly write about issues in YA literature that we now take for granted.
Having studied the evolution of children's and young adult literature, I
realize that being able to read works by people like Paul Zindel (and Robert
Cormier) is very noteworthy for us as professionals. Their writing careers
opened new doors in YA literature and addressed issues that had never been
touched before in this genre. Their pioneering efforts will not be
forgotten...and we can say we "remember when..."

What a great life we have lived. What great pioneers in YA literature we
have known.

Thanks, "Pigman"!
