My 6th grade teachers plan on modeling a research paper with their
students, with all students using the same book, same encyclopedia, same
electronic database source, etc., and all would be on the same topic.
However, we also want the students to begin to learn how to evaluate the
resources, such as how to tell which book is best to use.I plan on
giving each table of students one book to evaluate as to its usefulness
as a resource. Does anyone have a checklist to use in this type of
evaluation for a book? I have checklists to evaluate electronic sources,
but not a book. I was thinking of such things to look for like: length,
copyright date, table of contents, index, reading level, etc. If you
have such a list or a powerpoint to share, please email me. Thank-you
for any help you can offer.
