Yesterday I introduced the new batch of shelf-readers to their task (they do
it for a term after a term's training during their weekly session with me)
They loved seeing their names on the chart and on the end of 'their' shelf
and were very keen to get started checking there and then. But I sent them
off to do their borrowing first. Many went straight to their shelf to
borrow a NF title from there and then raced over to join the queue at the
circ desk - I was standing nearby doing something and three or four times I
heard the following ... a little different from any conversation I have
heard in the queue before!
A: (sounding disappointed) Are you borrowing today?
B; Yep but I'll be there in a minute.
A: OK - meet you at the shelf then!
