TECH: Personal Firewall Software

Hi,
        Is there a free firewall available for download on the internet? We're
getting a cable modem tomorrow. I'm planning to purchase one, but haven't
made a decision on which one to buy (I'd appreciate your thoughts on that,
too).
        I have a Compac, running Windows ME.
