Dear Lm-Netters, My school district's main staff development initiative, and the program on which we are hanging our student achievement, is the implementation of the research of Robert Marzano, et. al. that is discussed in his "Classroom Instruction That Works: Research-Based Strategies for Increasing Student Achievement." One of the strategies deals with "recognizing effort and providing feedback." Part of this strategy is showing instances when extraordinary effort has resulted in increased achievement, and and lists the movies, "Rudy" and "Hoosiers," and some of the selections in the "Chicken Soup for the Soul" books as examples. I am asking your collective wisdom for additional titles--fiction and nonfiction--that would fit this category. Thanks for your help! --Lisa Dreesman,Library Media Specialist Carroll Middle School / Adams Elementary Carroll, IA dreesman@win-4-u.net ldreesman@carroll.k12.ia.us =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=- All LM_NET postings are protected by copyright law.
