I am replying to the whole list because it seems to me that some members are not aware that OCLC, the publisher of the Dewey system, has it available online-sort of. If you do not mind going with the summaries only, that is, everything up to the decimal number. The URL is http://www.oclc.org/oclc/fp/ then click on "DDC Summaries," then click on the summaries that you need. If Nancy had been aware of this, she would have found out that 296 is the class for books on Judaism. Since the books she asked about may be based on religious holidays, I would say she is okay. But again, this works only if you agree to go with 296 in this example, and forego with the .4. -- Take care, Luis R.
