Target: Anti-spam software post and xupiter.com

Sometime in the last three months, someone posted a hit about an effective
anti-spam software that could be downloaded from the. I printed out the post
at the time, but of course now I can't find it.  I have searched the
archives and found two posts about MailWasher, but one post said it didn't
work.  Does anyone know if there is a better program that actually works?
I'm getting so many pop-ups now that I can't keep up with deleting them. I
think it's because somehow a website called xupiter.com has infected my
computer and keeps popping up as my homepage even though we've done
everything we know to stop it.  Has anyone else experienced this and if so,
what did you do?
