TECH: Copying picture into word file

I'm hoping someone can help me.My daughter is working on a  presentation (due
tomorrow, of course) and we can't seem to copy any images into her word
files. After she selects paste, nothing appears on the page or rather an
empty box appears where the picture should be. Yet we can copy the image into
an AOL file and the image appears. We're using Windows XP. Does anyone have
any idea what's going on?
