Actually we've tried to do this somewhat with limited success. I still would
carry copies of all the books in the library which any student could check
out. It was just that teachers should not read aloud to their class another
grade level's title. The problem was most difficult in getting elementary
teachers to not read books that the middle school teachers wanted to use.

Our district curriculum committee has sent around a list of books they want
to restrict to grade levels. These are books that are 'read aloud' to
classes. Teacher's must choose from the list for their grade level and won't
be able to deviate from the list. We've been asked to provide feedback and
I'm curious how others feel about this practice. I'm personally against it.
