I have kept nothing. The minute the CD came from Brodart when we converted -
everything went. I have never kept an accession list anyway - since my first
days on the job.

The day the CD arrived -- the card catalog, the shelf list, and the shelf
list cabinets all were dumped. In the 3 years that this school has been
automated - I have never had a reason to use any of these items -- They were
worthless anyway - they hadn't been touched in 5 years.

I, too, catalog everything - pamphlets, textbooks, equipment, etc.

In my previous school -- I did the same - and, again, never had a reason to
wish I had not done so.

Subject: Hard copy accession list

We have always kept a paper copy of the accession list in our library.
We use Follett Software for our electronic catalog and purchase books
from a variety of vendors (some of which come with a disk to be loaded
in the catalog) and we also catalog donated books. Has anyone discarded
the paper copy and relied on the bibliographic records in the electronic
catalog? Our tech says we have all the data from the accession list in
the bibliographic record (a duplication of effort) and thinks we can
stop using the accession list. Any thoughts will be greatly
appreciated!
