Quoting from page 73 of a Teacher's Handbook K-2 and page 63 of a Teacher's Handbook 3-5 published by Renaissance Learning. The Diagnostic Report is also a very useful tool for student diagnosis because it indicates students who may be at risk. You should know that our definition of at risk is very specific and a little different from the common one. We say a student is at risk if her scores on Accelerated Reader Reading Practice quizzes are on average, low; if she has earned few points relative to the rest of the class; or if she has taken no quizzes at all. This student might not be doing poorly in her other schoolwork and may even be reading above grade level, according to standardized tests. If a student is at risk, the report prints a letter code next to the student's name indicating trouble areas. If you see an at-risk code, it means that something is not going well for the student, and more investigation is warranted. The AR committee at Schenck bought a copy of the titles mentioned above for the teachers. The books are excellent.
