Our school system recently changed our web-based email and the new
system cannot accept HTML. I subscribe to several newsletters and some
now arrive looking like gobbledy-gook. I would like to know if text-only
web mail is common in school systems. Our tech guru said they are
preventing java applets which often contain viruses.

What's your experience?
