This is coming to a head in my building. I don't automatically write off books...I just leave them on their list, hoping that they will show up. This year, I decided that something needed to be done about the ones still missing from 1999. I have added up how much they are...almost $500 from about a dozen teachers and 1 teacher had over $200 that herself. Needless to say, I have taken this to my administration! My assistant principal's initial reaction was 'make her pay for them!' I think he and our principal are going to check with our district office folk. I know this one teacher thinks its 'funny'..she asked my assistant if I was going to send the collection agency after her! Kathy, I would love a copy of your policy! Thanks!
